Nutritional Programs
Many in Honduras suffer from malnutrition. Roughly 60% of children are born into families living below the poverty level, especially in rural areas. These children suffer from undernutrition which means they do not receive nutrients needed to support the development of their body. In combination, they also struggle with micronutrient deficiencies where they do not get enough vitamins and minerals they need for their body to function properly. These two conditions are the leading reason a malnourished child becomes vulnerable to disease.
Saving Grace International Ministries join our partners and donors to battle malnutrition at every possible level. Together we are the difference for suffering children, and we invite you to stand in the gap with us for precious children in need.
VITAMIN DISTRIBUTION
We begin in the womb by providing prenatal vitamins to impoverished nursing and expectant mothers as early as possible in her pregnancy and while she nurses her child through their first birthday. Caring for mom and giving her precious child a fighting chance.
Our nutritional programs tackle the parasites who enter a child’s body usually from contaminated water, food, soil and animals with a dewormer medication. The parasites take and feed from the little nutrition an impoverished child receives and causes havoc on their vulnerable bodies. We also fight deficiencies that affect the internal organs of a malnourished child with liquid Vitamin A to prevent blindness, protect internal organs and build their immune system.
This is a continually growing program, treating thousands of children twice a year, and always bringing new communities into the program. Your support allows our teams to continually travel to remote areas to reach as many precious children as possible.
CHILDREN'S CENTERS
Saving Grace operates children’s centers for severely impoverished children who desperately need nutrition. Our program provides healthy meals daily for long-term care to reverse the damage malnutrition has caused and to give these precious children the nutrition their bodies need to grow and thrive. SUSTAINABLE FOOD PROGRAM
Poverty is the root cause of hunger in Honduras. Nearly half of the population struggles with the ability to afford or have access to healthy food.
Saving Grace International Ministries believe in sustainability. Our goal is to continually introduce opportunities for families to be able to support themselves with renewable food sources. There are many challenges with growing food every year, such as extreme weather including drought, hurricanes and floods that destroy crops, livestock and infrastructure.
Our teams work alongside families to build manageable 4×4 upright gardens, provide hen houses with mature laying hens, and other sustainable agricultural options. Our mission travelers use their gifts and talents to continually contribute to this program.
Emergency help is desperately needed for severely impoverished families from our Food Bag Program. This is a continual program, and your support is greatly needed.
